The email didn't arrive, or the link doesn't work
First check your spam folder, and open the newest email we sent: each new link replaces the ones before it. If that does not help, the reasons below cover the rest
The page says "Check your email" for every address you type, whether or not an email was sent. It never says whether an address has an account, so that nobody can use it to find out who uses Vauz. That also means it cannot warn you when something went wrong, so this page does
If the email didn't arrive
Look in your spam folder
Your email app puts messages it is unsure about in a folder usually called Spam or Junk. Our emails come from Vauz, at support@vauz.sealzi.com, and every email this page talks about has "vauz.sealzi.com" in its subject, so searching your email for vauz.sealzi.com finds them
Check the address you typed
If you mistyped your address, the email went to the mistyped one, and the page cannot tell you so. Ask again, checking each letter
You may have signed up with a different address
When you ask for a link with Lost your passkey, or never finished signing up? and that address has no
account, it gets an email titled No vauz.sealzi.com account uses this email instead of a link. If you
have an account under another address, ask again with that one. If you have no account at all, the
email's Create an account button takes you to the form for making one
You asked several times in a row
We send up to five emails at once, then one more every five minutes, however many times anyone asks. After that the page still says "Check your email", but nothing more goes out until five minutes have passed. So wait five minutes, press the button once, and use the newest email
What counts towards the five:
- Links into an account (Finish setting up your vauz.sealzi.com account and Get back into your vauz.sealzi.com account) are counted per account. Asking from the Create Account form and from the sign-in page both count
- Links to create an account (Create your vauz.sealzi.com account) are counted per email inbox. At Gmail, versions of your address with extra dots or a + in them count as the same inbox
- Emails that carry no sign-in link of their own (You already have a vauz.sealzi.com account, whose button only opens the sign-in page, and No vauz.sealzi.com account uses this email, whose button only opens the Create Account form) have five of their own, counted per inbox, so they never use up your links
Many requests came from your internet connection
Everyone on one internet connection, such as a home's Wi-Fi, an office or a café, shares one limit. Asking for links, trying links that no longer work and trying to join a family all count towards it. After a great many of these in a short time from one connection, nothing more is sent from it for a while: a minute at first, longer if it keeps happening, and never more than an hour. The page still says "Check your email", and a link you open meanwhile may say "Whoa, that's a lot of tries 🐢 Take a few minutes and try again"
Still nothing
Wait a few minutes and ask once more. If nothing ever arrives at an address you can read, write to support@vauz.sealzi.com
Every link we email, and how long it works
| Its button | Works for | How many times | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Create your vauz.sealzi.com account | Create my account | 3 days | Once. Opening it does not use it up: pressing Add a passkey does |
| Finish setting up your vauz.sealzi.com account | Add a passkey | 3 days | Once, when your passkey is made |
| Get back into your vauz.sealzi.com account | Add a new passkey | 15 minutes | Once, when your passkey is made |
| You're invited to a family on vauz.sealzi.com | Join the family | 24 hours | Once, to join |
- Asking again replaces the old link. For the first three, a new email makes the links in earlier ones stop working
- Family invitations work differently. Each one works on its own, but all of them stop working when the family's invite code changes, which happens when someone is removed from the family or a new code is made. See Invite someone to your family
- Cancelled your device's prompt? Press
Add a passkeyagain on the same page. It still works. After a link to create your account or a family invitation, you have an hour from your first press ofAdd a passkey— see This setup waited too long
"That link no longer works"
What you see depends on the link:
- Create your vauz.sealzi.com account: a box titled "That link no longer works", saying "That link
was used, has expired, or a newer one replaced it ⏳ Use the newest email, or ask for a fresh one".
Press
OK. The Create Account form is right behind it, so type your address and pressEmail me a linkfor a new one - Finish setting up and Get back into your account: the setup box opens as usual, and the same
message, "That link was used, has expired, or a newer one replaced it ⏳ Use the newest email, or ask
for a fresh one", appears under the button when you press
Add a passkey. Leave the box (below) and ask for a new link withLost your passkey, or never finished signing up?. If your account has a passkey by then, an old Finish setting up link says your account is set up already instead: see Your account is set up already - A family invitation: a box titled "That link no longer works", saying "That invite has expired or been replaced ⏳ Ask whoever invited you to send a fresh one", or "This invite has already been used 🙂 If you joined with it, your family is on your dashboard". See Join a family
If you are already signed in on that browser, an old Create your vauz.sealzi.com account link or invitation takes you straight to your dashboard, and the message shows there instead
"Couldn't reach us" or "Couldn't check your link"
Only a link that was used, has expired or was replaced says it no longer works. If the page couldn't check a link to create your account, or a family invitation, it says so instead, and the link may still be fine:
- A box titled "Couldn't reach us 😕", saying "Your link couldn't be checked just now. Check your internet connection, then press Try again": the page couldn't reach us at all
- A box titled "Couldn't check your link": we couldn't check it just then, for example "Whoa, that's a lot of tries 🐢 Take a few minutes and try again" or "Taking a quick breather 🫖 Try again in a moment"
Press Try again in the box. It checks the same link again, so you don't need to go back to the email
For Finish setting up and Get back into your account, a message like this appears under the
button when you press Add a passkey instead, such as "Couldn't reach us 😕 Check your internet
connection, then press Add a passkey again". Do what it says, and press Add a passkey again
This setup waited too long
After you press Add a passkey on a link to create your account, or on a family invitation, the setup
stays open for an hour. Retries in that time carry on where you were. Press Add a passkey after the
hour, and the box closes. The sign-in page shows the Email me a link form with one of these:
- "This setup waited too long ⏳ Press Email me a link, and finish from the email": from a link to create your account. Your address is already filled in
- "This setup waited too long ⏳ Type your email address in the box above and press Email me a link to finish": from a family invitation. Type the address the invitation was sent to
You see this only while your account has no passkey. It already exists, so press Email me a link,
open the Finish setting up your vauz.sealzi.com account email, and add your passkey from there. See
Never finished signing up
Your account is set up already
If your account already has a passkey when you press Add a passkey on an old setup, the box closes.
That happens when you finished from another link, such as a Finish setting up email, or when your
passkey was made but the answer never reached the page. The sign-in page says "Your account is set up
already 🙌 Sign in with your passkey", and a box titled "You already have an account 🙌" opens with
Sign in with a passkey. Press it and sign in with the passkey you made. From a family invitation, the
box says "Sign in to join" and the family's name, and you join once you are in
The same goes for a Finish setting up link opened after your account got its passkey. A Get back into your account link never answers this way
How to leave the setup box
The box that opens from a link covers the whole page, and pressing Esc does not close it. To leave it,
press Already have an account? Sign in at the bottom of the box. That takes you to the sign-in page
whether or not you have an account, and from there Lost your passkey, or never finished signing up?
asks for a new link. Closing the browser tab leaves it too: a tab is one page open in your browser,
and you can have several open at once
Opening the link on another device or browser
The links to create an account, finish setting it up and get back in work in any browser, on any device, not only the one you asked from. What matters is where you open it: your passkey is made there. So open the email on the phone or computer you want to sign in with. A plan you picked on the pricing page is remembered wherever you open it
A family invitation's Join the family button works anywhere too, but finish in the same tab, the page
the button opened: the invitation waits in that tab while you sign in or set up your account, and then
adds you. If you end
up signing in somewhere else, press Join the family in the email again there
