Add or replace your card
You add or replace your card from the Plan card on your dashboard, and type it into a secure form on our card page. The card is kept by Helcim, the company that processes our card payments — see What is Helcim, and why does it have my card?
We never store your card details — not the number, not the last four digits, not the expiry date. When your dashboard shows your card, it asks Helcim at that moment and keeps nothing afterwards
Steps
Step 1: Open your card on the dashboard
On your dashboard, press Manage Plan, then Payment method. It says Checking with Helcim… for a
moment, then shows the card on file, such as Visa ending in 4242 and Expires 12/28, or No card
saved. Press Replace card, or Add a card if there is none
When nothing of yours is billing any more (your plan has ended, or you are on a family's plan), there
is no Manage Plan. Instead a second line under your plan says so and ends with Past payments (or
Saved card if you saved a card but never paid). Press it, and open Saved card if it isn't open
already, to see or replace the card
You also reach the card page from Continue to payment in a plan's confirmation box (see
Choose, change or cancel your plan), and from Update card when a
payment didn't go through
Step 2: The card page opens
You are taken to our card page at pay.vauz.sealzi.com. It is ours, kept apart from your account on purpose, so Helcim's card form never runs on a page where you are signed in. On the way, the address bar (the box at the top of your browser that shows which website you're on) may show vauz.sealzi.com for a moment — that is expected. See Is pay.vauz.sealzi.com really Vauz?
The page is titled Add a card. If you came from a plan's confirmation box, it is titled Checkout instead, and shows the plan you confirmed with the line Once your card is saved, this goes through and you're back in your dashboard
Step 3: Enter your billing address, the first time
Your billing address is the address your card is registered to. The first card on an account starts
with Step 1 of 2 · Billing address: the name on the card, street
address, city, province or territory, and postal code. Vauz is sold in Canada, so the address has to be
Canadian — see Why is tax added, and can I buy from outside Canada?. Press
Continue to card details. The address goes to Helcim to work out your tax and check the card, and we
do not keep it. Later cards skip this step
Step 4: Enter your card in Helcim's form
The page says Enter your card in Helcim's secure form (Step 2 of 2 · Card details on your first card), and Helcim's own form opens over it. Type your card into that form and confirm there. The page says Checking your card…, then Card saved, with the card, such as Visa ending in 4242 is saved, and takes you back to your dashboard
The card page itself takes no payment: it checks the card with a $0 check. Your dashboard says Card saved 💳 and shows the card. If you came from a plan's confirmation box, the payment you confirmed there is made as soon as you are back, with no second press. If you saved the card because a payment didn't go through, see A payment did not go through for what happens next
The card drawn at the top of the card page is only a picture. It shows the Vauz logo, dots and MM/YY, and on your first card Your name, which changes to the name you type in the address form. It is a drawing, not a real card, and the page never sees your card number: you type that into Helcim's form. Once your card is saved, the picture turns over to show Saved, the card's brand and its last four digits
One card at a time. Saving a new card replaces the old one, and the card your dashboard shows is the one your plan is charged to
