How Paying for Vauz Works

How paying for Vauz works

Vauz has one free plan, Free, and two paid ones, Plus and Premium. A paid plan is a subscription: you agree once, and the same price plus tax is then charged to your saved card every month, or every year, until you stop it

You choose and manage your plan on your dashboard, at https://vauz.sealzi.com/dashboard/ (opens in a new tab), in the box headed Plan (the Plan card). Paying changes your plan, not where your passwords are kept: they stay on your own device, and your vauz.sealzi.com account never sees them

The plans and their prices

PlanPaid monthlyPaid yearlyPeople it covers in a family
FreeC$0C$0Just you
PlusC$4.70 a monthC$50.04 a year4
PremiumC$7.60 a monthC$80.52 a year6

Prices are in Canadian dollars, before tax. Paying yearly costs less: Plus yearly is C$6.36 less than twelve months of Plus monthly (C$56.40), and Premium yearly is C$10.68 less than twelve months of Premium monthly (C$91.20). With Yearly picked, the pricing page also shows what a year works out to per month, C$4.17 for Plus and C$6.71 for Premium, but a yearly plan is paid in one payment a year

What each plan includes is listed on the pricing page (opens in a new tab), under Compare plans. On your dashboard, the Vauz blue background comes with Plus and Premium, and Premium golden with Premium

Words you'll see

  • Renews: on the renewal date, the same price plus tax is charged to your saved card, and your plan carries on for another month or year. It keeps doing that until you cancel
  • Renews on 16 October 2026 for C$4.70 plus tax: what the Plan card says under your plan's name. That date is your next payment, and your plan is paid for up to that day
  • Plus tax, or plus applicable tax: our prices are before tax. Sales tax for the province of your billing address, such as GST or HST, is added when you're charged. See Why is tax added?
  • You keep Plus until …: you've cancelled, and you keep your plan until that date
  • Free for now: a payment kept failing, so you're on Free until it's sorted. In a family whose plan covers you, the Plan card shows the family's plan instead, with "· a payment for your own plan didn't go through, see it here 👇". See A payment did not go through
  • Sealzi: the company that makes Vauz. The sentence you agree to begins "I authorise Sealzi to charge my card…". See Who is Sealzi?
  • Helcim: the company that handles our card payments and keeps your card for us. See What is Helcim, and why does it have my card?

Every message the Plan card can show is explained in What does this message on my Plan card mean?

Buying a plan

Pick a plan on the pricing page (opens in a new tab): choose Monthly or Yearly at the top, then press Select Plus Plan or Select Premium Plan, and sign in if you're asked to. Your dashboard opens a box with the plan, its price, and one sentence saying exactly what will be charged, when, and how often. Tick the box beside the sentence and press the button

The plan starts straight away and is paid that day. It renews a month (or a year) later, and so on. If you have no card saved yet, the button says Continue to payment and takes you to our card page first. The payment is made once you're back on your dashboard with the card saved. Step by step, it's in Choose, change or cancel your plan

Moving up from Plus to Premium

An upgrade starts straight away. The part of your Plus that you've paid for but not used yet is turned into days of Premium, worked out on the price before tax and rounded down. So nothing is charged that day: your first Premium payment is taken when those days run out, and the Plan card says when, as "Your unused time covers Premium until …"

For example, halfway through a 30-day month of Plus monthly, 15 days are left, worth C$2.35 of the C$4.70 price. On Premium monthly, C$7.60 a month, that buys 9 days

Only if there is no unused time left is the upgrade paid that day. Then the button says Upgrade and pay, followed by the price, instead of Upgrade now

Moving down, or between monthly and yearly

Moving from Premium to Plus, or between monthly and yearly, waits for the end of the period you've already paid for. You keep what you have until then, and the new plan's first payment is taken on that date. The Plan card says "Switches to … on …", with a button to keep your plan instead if you change your mind before then

Cancelling

Press Manage Plan, then Cancel plan, then Stop renewing. You keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for, and nothing more is charged. The part of the period you don't use isn't refunded. See Can I get a refund, or is this charge mine?

You can change your mind until that date: press Manage Plan, then Resume renewing. We email you Your vauz.sealzi.com plan will not renew when you cancel and, unless another plan takes over, Your vauz.sealzi.com plan has ended when it runs out

Cancelling while a renewal payment is still being tried again is different: the plan ends straight away, because the time it would run to was never paid for

Reminders and receipts

  • A yearly plan gets an email 14 days before it renews: Your yearly vauz.sealzi.com plan renews on …
  • Every payment that goes through gets a receipt from us by email, and your 24 most recent payments are in the Payments list on your dashboard. See Was my card charged? Was it charged twice?

When a payment doesn't go through

If a renewal payment is refused, your plan carries on while your card is tried again three more times, over about a week. The Plan card shows the dates, and we email you Your vauz.sealzi.com payment didn’t go through, then Last try for your vauz.sealzi.com payment on … the day before the last try. Press Update card on the Plan card to save a card that works

If none of the tries work, your plan stops. You move to Free, and the Plan card says "Free for now", or, in a family whose plan covers you, you move to the family's plan. While the tries are going on, the warning on the Plan card tells you which. We email you Your vauz.sealzi.com plan is paused. You can update your card, or buy a plan again (the plan whose payment failed is cancelled first, so only the new one can be charged), or cancel it with Cancel plan. A paused plan that is left alone is cancelled 60 days after it moved to Free. Everything about this is in A payment did not go through

Family plans

A family runs on the best plan anyone in it pays for. Whoever pays for it is billed as for their own plan, and the people with a seat on it are not billed at all. Plus has 4 seats and Premium 6, the person paying included, and a family can hold up to 6 people. Anyone without a seat stays in the family, on Free or on a plan of their own. See Family seats and guardians

A plan you pay for yourself keeps renewing when you join a family. If the family's plan covers you and you don't need your own any more, cancel it on your Plan card. On Plus through a family, you can buy Premium of your own, and it then covers the family too
