How to Fully Quit Vauz

Closing the Vauz window is not always the same as quitting Vauz. On macOS in particular, the app keeps running after its window is closed, so a support step that asks you to "fully quit and reopen" will not have any effect if you only closed the window

Fast Tip:

  • macOS: press + Q, or use Vauz > Quit Vauz in the menu bar
  • Windows and Linux: close the Vauz window
  • Not responding? Use force quit

Why closing the window is not always enough

Quit Vauz

If Vauz won't respond

Use these steps only when Vauz has stopped responding and will not close normally

⚠️

Force quitting closes the app immediately without letting it finish what it was doing. If Vauz was in the middle of saving, avoid force quitting unless you have no other option

Check that nothing is still running

If you were asked to fully quit Vauz for troubleshooting, it is worth confirming nothing is left over

If you use the Vauz Autofill browser extension, you may also see a separate autofill helper process. Your browser starts it when the extension needs it, and it can start again on its own the next time you use the extension. If it is causing trouble, see Vauz extension stuck at 'Loading credentials' popup

That's it

Vauz is fully quit. Open it again the way you normally do, and you will be asked for your V-Key if you have one set up

Quitting Vauz does not delete anything and does not sign you out of anything. Your saved entries are exactly as they were

Still cannot quit Vauz?

Please contact Vauz support and include:

  • Your operating system and version
  • Your Vauz version
  • What you tried, and what happened instead
  • Whether Vauz reappears on its own after you quit it
  • Whether the app was responding at the time
